NHS Greater Glasgow And Clyde, the largest health board in the UK with over 44,000 staff, needed to give tens of thousands of clinicians fast, unified electronic access to patient records and move toward a near‑paperless hospital environment. To achieve this, the board engaged Orion Health and deployed the Orion Health Hospital solution together with the Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine to integrate disparate Patient Administration Systems, scanned case notes, clinical documents and the SCI Store central data repository.

Orion Health implemented Rhapsody to feed, clean and convert documents (including on‑the‑fly TIFF→PDF conversion) and used Orion Health Hospital to present a single unified patient view, real‑time ward/clinic lists, single sign‑on and one‑click ordering. The result was a paper‑lite service in two new Ambulatory Care and Diagnostic Centres, easier access to records from the SCI Store (nearly two million people), and faster workflows—clinicians can reach the Ordering screen in one click instead of navigating up to nine screens, saving several seconds per order—while the solution is being scaled across the health board.
