HealthVantics and Rochester RHIO, a non-profit regional health information exchange serving authorized providers across 13 upstate New York counties, faced slow participant onboarding (often four to six months), growing demands for faster data delivery, and the need for a scalable, best-of-breed integration platform. To address these challenges they selected Orion Health’s Rhapsody Integration Engine as the core component of their new solution stack.

Orion Health’s Rhapsody was implemented as the HIE’s interface engine, enabling in‑house interface builds, accelerated onboarding (cutting onboarding time by about 75%), and scalable message processing. The deployment now handles roughly 15 million inbound and outbound messages per month, connects to more than 35 EHR/EMR systems, runs over 200 interfaces and 1,000+ routes, and has more than doubled the number of participants receiving results through the HIE.
