Marston’s PLC, an independent brewing and retailing business with ~2,100 pubs, faced a 2012 SAP ECC6 upgrade across finance, sales, production planning and warehouse modules with extensive custom development but no formal test scripts or full understanding of business usage. With tight timelines and a mission‑critical system at stake, the test manager needed a fast, low‑disruption way to capture real business processes and manage testing.

Marston’s deployed Original Software’s Qualify and TestDrive-Assist (with TestDrive) and engaged Capita to execute regression testing. Recording software was rolled out to 100 users, producing over 1,000 recorded transactions that were imported into Qualify; Capita built 900+ test scripts and automated about 60% (target ~80%) of them. The approach cut time and cost, reduced critical defects, met project deadlines, enabled ongoing monthly regression testing and raised overall SAP quality and productivity.
