A OrgSync Case Study
California State University, Sacramento’s Office of Student Organizations and Leadership set out to determine whether participation in co‑curricular activities—specifically serving as club leaders—improved student success. The office needed reliable involvement data to support assessment and funding decisions, but the 2009 process relied on archived paper records and was time-consuming and inefficient.
By using OrgSync to pull student involvement and leadership data, Sac State quickly supplied the Office of Institutional Research with clean cohorts for analysis. The study found club leaders had substantially higher retention and graduation rates (for example, 6‑year graduation: 72% for leaders vs. 39% for non‑leaders) across underrepresented, commuter, and transfer students; the results secured additional funding including a $1.8M Full Circle Grant and allowed the Leadership Initiative to grow staff and membership dramatically.
