Richmond College Gains Visibility and Secures all network devices

Richmond College, home to over 3,500 students and 300 staff, faced growing risk from unmanaged devices, IoT, BYOD and “shadow IT” across its new campus and associated schools. The college needed full, granular visibility of every networked device to close potential back‑doors and meet heightened safeguarding requirements for under‑18s. RivaNET recommended and helped deploy Ordr Systems Control Engine (SCE) to address these gaps.

Ordr SCE was implemented as a passive, agentless solution using DPI and machine learning to identify device make, model, serial, location and risk, and it integrated with the college’s Splunk SIEM for real‑time alerts. The deployment delivered results from day one—Richmond College regained full visibility of wired and wireless devices, now receives immediate notifications of suspicious behavior, and can automatically create segmentation policies to isolate compromised devices and prevent lateral movement, improving overall campus security and safeguarding.
