A Ordnance Survey Case Study
Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service needed faster, more reliable ways to identify incident locations, target prevention and protection activity, and consolidate multiple gazetteer systems. To solve this, they worked with Ordnance Survey, using the AddressBase® dataset (AddressBase Premium via the Public Services Mapping Agreement) to improve address accuracy and risk mapping.
Ordnance Survey provided UPRNs, an automated, simplified search and a new visual map of addresses with specific risks, enabling easy data sharing with partners and neighbouring services. The AddressBase solution sharpened resource focus for Prevention and Protection, improved incident-location precision, and delivered roughly £100k in savings by consolidating gazetteer management systems for Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service.
