Strathclyde Fire and Rescue - Customer Case Study

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue faced gaps in timely, location-specific incident information that compromised crew safety and slowed response planning. To boost situational awareness and deliver 3-D structural imagery alongside other response data, SFR adopted geospatial datasets from Ordnance Survey via the One Scotland Mapping Agreement (OSMA), including the OS MasterMap Topography Layer.

Using Ordnance Survey data under OSMA, SFR developed an in‑house system that delivers map-backed 3‑D models and incident response plans to mobile data terminals in appliances, letting crews access detailed, location-specific intelligence en route and at the scene. The Ordnance Survey-powered solution has improved risk management and operational efficiency, enabled cross-service intelligence sharing, and yielded estimated licence‑fee savings of £70,000–£120,000 annually.
