Southwark Council makes efficiency gains with Contractor Link and the PSMA

Southwark Council, a London local authority, faced time-consuming and costly processes for distributing Ordnance Survey mapping data to contractors—manual licence forms, bespoke data formatting, DVDs and lots of email back-and-forth. Since April 2011 the council has used Contractor Link by emapsite under the Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA) to simplify access to up-to-date mapping products such as OS MasterMap and scale rasters.

emapsite implemented Contractor Link, a self-service portal that lets contractors request, download and receive data in their required formats while the council retains control and an audit trail. The result: zero direct administration or distribution costs for the council, guaranteed subcontractor licence compliance, no more physical media, clear download logs and faster project turnaround—free to local authorities and backed by Ordnance Survey data.
