SLRB Bahrain - Customer Case Study

Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), Bahrain’s government agency for surveying and property registration, faced the challenge of preparing for the National 3D Mapping of Bahrain by moving its geospatial database to an object-based, fully 3D model and providing consistent data to 10 stakeholders across government and the private sector. Ordnance Survey International was selected to deliver the Kingdom’s first 3D-enabled national spatial data model to support cross-stakeholder data sharing, analysis and decision-making.

Ordnance Survey International worked closely with SLRB and key stakeholders to design and deliver an OGC/ISO-compliant object-based 3D data model, completed in November 2013. The solution produced “intelligent” geospatial data, improved consistency in data maintenance and distribution, positioned SLRB to support the National 3D Mapping programme, and led to a five-year framework agreement for further collaboration—enabling improved kingdom-wide analysis, data sharing, eGovernment and Smart City initiatives.
