Case Study: SLRB Bahrain achieves mastery of open standards for its 3D national spatial data model with Ordnance Survey

Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), the Kingdom of Bahrain’s agency for surveying and property registration, needed to sustain and maintain a new 3D-enabled national spatial data model built to OGC and ISO open standards. Ordnance Survey had created the model but SLRB required a clear understanding of core geospatial data‑modelling concepts and how to use open standards effectively to ensure long‑term, independent use of the data.

Ordnance Survey delivered a tailored specialist training programme on the relevant international standards, data sharing, model manipulation and deployment without vendor dependency. The programme developed sustainable in‑house skills, gave SLRB direct access to global experts, and helped maximise the return on their investment; the strengthened relationship led to a five‑year framework agreement with Ordnance Survey to support further strategic projects.
