A Ordnance Survey Case Study
ResilienceDirect needed a way to coordinate emergency response and recovery more effectively across central and local resilience organizations. The challenge was to share information during incidents, overcome different processes and technologies, and improve decision-making with trusted location data. Ordnance Survey supported the platform with OS mapping data through the PSMA, helping create a secure, accredited information-sharing service.
Ordnance Survey helped deliver ResilienceDirect as a free, easy-to-use platform that allows real-time collaboration across organizational and geographic boundaries from desktop or mobile devices. Using OS detailed mapping data and tools such as OS OnDemand and OS Places, responders could pinpoint risk areas and communicate accurately, even down to individual buildings. The solution improved information flow and joint working, and it has already delivered more than £760k in efficiency savings.
