A Ordnance Survey Case Study
Northumberland National Park Authority (NNPA) struggled with a manual planning process and non‑standard addresses that led to duplicate and incorrect entries and made it difficult to link planning history or property information. To address this, NNPA engaged Ordnance Survey and its AddressBase Plus product as part of a move to a new automated planning system.
By deploying Ordnance Survey’s AddressBase Plus (and associated OS MasterMap data), NNPA standardized addresses using the UPRN, linked current applications to historical records and property datasets (broadband, mobile coverage, insulation, solar potential) and identified commercial premises for targeted tourism marketing. Ordnance Survey’s solution streamlined the planning process—saving considerable time and effort—enabled new data‑driven services and marketing, and opened the door to further integration with local authority datasets.
