A Ordnance Survey Case Study
NAFN (National Anti Fraud Network), the largest shared service in local government serving nearly 90% of councils, needed to refine and improve its Postal Address File (PAF) to support fraud, debt recovery and tenancy investigations while cutting costs and reducing manual address entry. To meet these challenges NAFN turned to Ordnance Survey and its OS Places capture and verification API.
Ordnance Survey worked with NAFN to integrate OS Places into the NAFN website and Intec case‑management software, supporting an in‑house redesign and secure member‑only access to PAF. The Ordnance Survey solution delivered a 90% reduction in annual licence costs, cut lookups from 300,000 to 65,000 per year, dramatically reduced manual address input, and removed the need to store and update local PAF files by using the cloud‑based service.
