Liverpool Direct Limited - Customer Case Study

Liverpool Direct Limited needed a faster, more accurate way to assess eligibility for pupil bus passes across the city. The old process relied on parents applying in writing and staff manually checking each request, which was slow, labour-intensive, and made it difficult to meet the September school-term deadline.

Working with Ordnance Survey, Liverpool Direct Limited used OS MasterMap, the Integrated Transport Network layer, 1:10 000 Scale Colour Raster, and Code-Point with polygons to automate location plotting and batch-measure shortest walking distances. Ordnance Survey’s geographic data helped Liverpool Direct Limited automatically identify eligible pupils, generate letters, and reduce manual checks, delivering £50,000 in savings, improving call centre availability, and ensuring passes were issued before the start of term for the first time in living memory.
