Histon & Impington Parish Council - Customer Case Study

Histon & Impington Parish Council needed to combine two adjoining village parishes into a single, efficiently governed group but had to demonstrate community support and build a robust business case. They worked with OS, using location datasets and OS VectorMap® District (alongside Boundary-Line™ and Code-Point®) to map consultation responses and assess geographic coverage of the vote.

OS produced distribution maps that showed votes were evenly spread with no hotspots and that support fell short of the 10% threshold that would have forced a full Community Governance Review. Using OS’s analysis, South Cambridgeshire granted the grouping order effective 1 April 2012, the council avoided a full review (saving approximately £8,000), retained parish identities while sharing administration, and achieved more efficient governance and resource savings.
