Exactrak - Customer Case Study

More than 90 local authority customers were struggling with congestion, extreme weather and rising costs for highway maintenance. Exactrak, a leading supplier of web‑based maintenance vehicle tracking and monitoring systems, used Ordnance Survey (OS) digital data to address these challenges by improving precision route planning and real‑time vehicle monitoring for gritters, gully‑cleaners and road‑sweepers.

Exactrak implemented a new web‑based solution built on OS datasets (including OS MasterMap and ITN) to create width- and restriction-aware routes, in‑cab navigation, automated salt‑spreading and a real‑time control‑room UI. The Exactrak system delivered measurable savings in fuel, salt and vehicle wear, reduced environmental impact, lowered software licence overheads through cloud mapping, and provided compliance-ready reporting for participating councils.
