Using GIS tools and datasets such as OS MasterMap Address Layer 2 and OS VectorMap Local, Aviva needed more precise location intelligence to move beyond postcode-level averaging and better evaluate individual property risks across Great Britain.

Ordnance Survey helped Aviva improve its solution by providing detailed vector mapping and address data that let the GIS team model scenarios, visualize individual buildings and boundaries, and combine internal and third-party datasets in one system. The result was more accurate underwriting, better pricing for the right risk, and stronger support for hard-to-insure customers, with Aviva reporting that OS VectorMap Local was a “significant advance” that improved detailed risk analysis.
