Anglian Water - Customer Case Study

Anglian Water needed a faster, auditable way to plan emergency potable-water distribution (bowsers and bottled water) to meet Defra regulations after supply interruptions. To solve this, Anglian Water worked with Ordnance Survey data and GeoMedia tools to leverage OS MasterMap® Address Layer 2 (and the Topography Layer) to automatically locate properties and potential public deployment sites.

Using Ordnance Survey’s AL2 with Intergraph GeoMedia and a custom raster-based clustering workflow, the vendor’s data and tools generated ~250-household deployment polygons, identified non-postal public sites, and produced a bowser deployment database and preview maps on a stand-alone system. The solution cut incident-staffing costs by about 90%, reduced a 2-person six-hour task to a one-person one-hour task, improved response speed and planning, provided auditable regulatory compliance, and supported Anglian Water’s PR09 submission.
