Andy Knowles South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - Customer Case Study

South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust faced a predicted 8% annual increase in patient transport demand (about 6,000 journeys) and needed to manage rising mobility and an ageing population with the same vehicles and staff. To tackle this, the Trust worked with MIS, deploying the C3 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and also used Ordnance Survey data (AddressBase and the OS MasterMap Integrated Transport Network) via the PSMA.

MIS’s C3 CAD was integrated with AddressBase and the ITN layer so accurate patient coordinates are sent to TomTom devices and real travel-time data is fed back to refine planning; this enabled the Trust to deliver more patient journeys with the same resources, meet contractual SLAs, and respond flexibly at short notice. The MIS implementation, together with Ordnance Survey data, improved location accuracy and journey-time planning and helped the Trust manage the predicted 8% growth without increasing vehicles or staff.
