EXO Freight Chooses API for EDI to Scale Operations

EXO Freight, the managed open-deck transportation marketplace, needed to stand up an EDI connection to onboard Walmart in just 10 days over the Christmas period but lacked EDI-specific expertise on its engineering team. The company chose Orderful’s API for EDI because it fit their team’s API skills and could translate EDI to JSON, enabling a rapid integration without forcing engineers to become EDI specialists.

Orderful provided a cloud EDI API that translated Walmart’s EDI, acted as a transaction buffer, and let EXO Freight build a simple translation layer to its backend—delivering a working connection in 10 days. The Orderful solution now processes about 3,000 EDI transactions per month, enables roughly one-day trading-partner onboardings, automated much of the manual accept/reject work, allowed quick recovery from backend outages, and materially increased EXO Freight’s revenue by unlocking large customers.
