Sobeys, one of Canada’s only two national grocery chains, faced rapidly growing online grocery demand and an inefficient fulfillment process: pickers were averaging about one hour per order with an estimated 25% of orders shipping with errors. To modernize fulfillment and improve accuracy and labor productivity, Sobeys partnered with Orckestra Inc., deploying Orckestra’s Pick & Pack application as part of the Orckestra Commerce Cloud running on Microsoft Azure.

Orckestra Inc. implemented an in-aisle mobile Pick & Pack solution that enforces barcode checks, supports informed substitutions, and integrates planogram-driven routing to optimize picking sequences and store layouts. The native integration with Orckestra Commerce Cloud has enabled Sobeys’ pickers to fulfill more orders more accurately and faster, reducing picking time from the prior one-hour average, lowering the previously evaluated 25% error rate, boosting customer satisfaction and cutting costs tied to product replacements, missing items and coupon reimbursements.
