Tata Motors Standardizes on PSpice Technology for Automotive Design Simulations

TATA Motors, India’s largest automobile company and a global automotive manufacturer, needed a better way to evaluate the many electronic interfaces in its increasingly electronics-heavy vehicles. To address challenges like ground shift, transients, short-to-battery/ground conditions, reverse battery, and other automotive abuse cases, TATA Motors turned to OrCAD PSpice Designer and related PSpice analysis tools for ECU and ECU-to-ECU simulation.

Using OrCAD PSpice Designer, TATA Motors performed steady-state, transient, and system/subsystem co-simulations with MATLAB/Simulink to verify circuit behavior, robustness, and compliance before hardware freeze. The result was earlier detection of supplier design and interface errors, improved reliability and productivity, and a reduction in ECU component lifecycle by six months, while helping TATA Motors meet stringent automotive quality and reliability standards.
