Compology Selects OrCAD for Revolutionary Garbage Sensor System

Compology, a waste-industry technology company, needed to redesign its dumpster monitoring sensor from a proof-of-concept built with off-the-shelf parts into a commercially viable product. The challenge required multi-year battery life, custom cellular communications and optics, lower-level hardware control, and compatibility with an external design team. To meet these needs, Compology turned to OrCAD tools including OrCAD Capture CIS, OrCAD Component Information Portal (CIP), and OrCAD PCB Designer.

Using OrCAD, Compology improved BOM control, component management, and design reuse while keeping work synchronized with its outside development partner. OrCAD CIP helped the team search distributor databases and automatically capture component data, reducing manual entry and errors, while PCB Designer’s place-and-replicate features sped up layout work. The result was a faster, more controlled design process and a successful first product launch, with Compology reporting they plan to use OrCAD again for future designs.
