Grupotec secures planning permission for 20MWp solar and 6MW BESS with Orbit Communications

Orbit Communications was appointed by Grupotec and REG Power Management to support stakeholder and community engagement for the Challoch Solar Park and battery storage development near Newton Stewart. The challenge was to effectively communicate the renewable energy proposals, gather feedback, and build constructive relationships with the local community and other key stakeholders throughout the planning process.

The solution implemented by Orbit Communications included a coordinated engagement programme featuring two public consultation events, a dedicated project website, and clear communications outlining the project's benefits. They successfully managed feedback and addressed objections, helping to secure planning permission. Orbit Communications also highlighted the project's significant community benefit fund, which will provide approximately £400,000 for local projects over its 40-year lifetime.
