Swing Transport gains ground on profitability and operational efficiency with ORBCOMM’s trailer tracking solution

Swing Transport, a North Carolina regional carrier operating roughly 200 tractors and 1,200 dry trailers, faced poor visibility for 30–40 trailers frequently left at customer sites—resulting in unauthorized storage use, misplaced or stolen trailers, and difficulty providing accurate ETAs. To address these challenges, Swing engaged ORBCOMM and deployed its solar-powered, dual-mode GT 1100 trailer tracking solution integrated with their McLeod LoadMaster dispatch software.

ORBCOMM’s GT 1100, using cellular plus satellite connectivity with geofencing, dwelling reports and automated alerts fed directly into LoadMaster, delivered real‑time and historical trailer data to dispatchers. The solution eliminated driver yard checks, reduced labor costs, improved driver productivity and tractor‑to‑trailer ratios, cut trailer idle time, and even enabled recovery of a stolen trailer—producing clear operational and profitability improvements for Swing Transport.
