Case Study: Transmed achieves end-to-end GDP-compliant temperature control and validation with ORBCOMM Euroscan

A ORBCOMM Case Study

Preview of the Transmed Case Study

ORBCOMM’s Euroscan technology helps transmed deliver first to last mile GDP solutions for pharmaceutical transport in Germany

Transmed, the PHOENIX Group’s pharmaceutical transport arm in Germany, faced a new regulatory challenge when the EU’s revised Good Distribution Practice (GDP) rules required temperature conditions to be maintained and validated across the entire supply chain. To meet those requirements and to offer GDP-compliant distribution direct to manufacturers, Transmed engaged ORBCOMM and its Euroscan cold‑chain technology to provide end-to-end temperature monitoring and traceability.

ORBCOMM implemented an integrated solution using Euroscan MX2 and X3 real‑time sensors, GAMP5‑certified temperature logging and the ColdChainView cloud platform, tied into Transmed’s ERP. The system delivers live ID, location and temperature data across Transmed’s three temperature‑controlled hubs, 20 regional DCs and 2,500‑vehicle fleet, creating validated records for GDP compliance, giving a single first‑to‑last‑mile view and enabling Transmed to expand its GDP service offering (with plans to grow the fleet further). ORBCOMM’s solution therefore secured regulatory compliance and opened new business opportunities.
