Integrated Dispatch and Asset Tracking Solution Helps Mike Tamana Optimize Fleet Operations

McLeod Software needed a way to help its carrier customers manage temperature-sensitive freight, streamline dispatch and driver assignment, and integrate telematics and ELD/HOS data into its LoadMaster platform. To address these challenges McLeod worked with ORBCOMM, deploying ORBCOMM’s FleetManager telematics and ORBCOMM ELD integrated directly with LoadMaster.

ORBCOMM provided real-time trailer/tractor location, five-minute reefer temperature updates, fuel-level and driver-behavior monitoring, geofencing and HOS feeds into LoadMaster, enabling automated alerts, feasibility-based preplanning and better preventative maintenance. The integration reduced temperature-related claims (previously about 4–5/year), improved on-time communication with customers, and unlocked fuel-economy gains (the fleet aims to move from 5.4 to 6.5 mpg—over $50,000/month in projected savings); ORBCOMM’s reliable devices and support also boosted uptime and driver satisfaction.
