A Orah Case Study
The Kiski School, a boarding school in Pennsylvania, faced the challenge of manually tracking 200 boarding students throughout their entire day, including classes, meals, athletics, and dorm check-ins. This process was cumbersome and unreliable, placing a heavy burden on staff to chase down attendance information. They turned to the vendor Orah for a student life and attendance platform to automate this accountability.
Orah implemented a solution using a Chrome extension for teachers to take class attendance and NFC tiles for students to tap their phones at checkpoints around campus after hours. This provided a continuous, automated picture of student whereabouts. The results were significant, with over 1,000 rolls completed in a month and zero teacher complaints after the first month of use. Orah's system eliminated manual follow-up, provided automatic alerts for absences, and improved emergency readiness, fundamentally making the school's operations more efficient and secure.
