Case Study: Zoom achieves rapid, massive scalability and reliable performance with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Zoom Case Study

Zoom selects Oracle as a cloud infrastructure provider for its core online meeting service

Zoom, the video‑communications company, faced an unprecedented surge in demand as remote work and free K–12 support drove daily meeting participants from about 10 million in December to 300 million by April. The company needed massive, rapid increases in capacity, performance, reliability, and security to serve enterprise, education, and consumer users.

Zoom selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (with Oracle Virtual Machines and Oracle Block Volumes) for its scalability, performance, and off‑box network virtualization that reduces the “hypervisor tax.” Oracle’s team took Zoom from deployment to live production in nine hours, initially supporting hundreds of thousands and quickly scaling to millions of concurrent participants; today Zoom transfers over seven petabytes per day through OCI, enabling smooth service during the surge.
