Zamil Industrial Maximizes Staff Productivity and Data Security by Moving Databases and Application Servers to the Cloud with Zero Code Changes

Zamil Industrial Investment Company is a Saudi Arabian engineering and manufacturing group (headquartered in Dammam, present in 55 countries) that supplies steel structures, HVAC, transmission towers and other construction products worldwide. Facing globally dispersed databases and application servers, the company needed to consolidate data across subsidiaries, automate provisioning and maintenance to relieve a small IT team, standardize workflows and document sharing, and reduce total cost of ownership while improving data security and availability.

Zamil migrated its databases and application servers to Oracle Database Cloud Service and Oracle Java Cloud Service with zero code changes, deploying a single Oracle Database instance and moving WebLogic-based apps to Oracle’s managed platform. The cloud solution delivered fast provisioning, automated backups, one-click patching and scaling, and reduced routine maintenance (saving about one hour per site and roughly two FTEs annually), cut specialist travel, improved developer productivity and data consistency, and increased uptime and security while avoiding vendor lock‑in.
