Young & Co.'s Brewery, which operates over 200 pubs including The Ship on the Thames, faced a service challenge when an extended outdoor seating area prevented staff from using a loudspeaker to call customers. Staff were manually noting mobile numbers with orders, which was error-prone and hard to manage, so the team asked MICROS to deliver an automated, POS-integrated solution.

MICROS developed the ABS SMS Customer Pager, a simple handheld interface attached to the POS that captures customers’ mobile numbers and lets staff send a ready-to-collect text with one click. The rollout improved order flow and customer service (over 400 texts sent on the first live Sunday), earned praise for rapid delivery, and opened opportunities to use captured mobile data for targeted promotions.
