Yapı KrediBank Halves Credit Card Authorization Time, Realizes Return on Investment in 24 Months

Yapi Kredi, one of Turkey’s largest private banks with more than 18,000 employees, needed to boost credit‑card transaction performance, reduce system downtime, stabilize core‑banking systems, lower hardware total cost of ownership, and speed time‑to‑market for new services. The bank sought greater capacity and easier administration to support its large customer base and ambitious service rollout plans.

Yapi Kredi replaced IBM mainframe technology with an engineered Oracle stack—Exadata Database Machine, ZFS Storage Appliance, SPARC T5‑4 and M‑Series servers running Oracle Solaris—implemented with partner Smartsoft and KocSistem. The rollout halved credit‑card authorization time (110 ms to 50 ms), consolidated hardware from 205 to 30 rack units, handled 18 TB of card data and 20 TB of core banking data, reduced backup windows, improved stability and agility, and delivered energy/space savings with a projected return on investment in 24 months.
