Worthington Industries Leverages Engineered Systems and Cloud Solution to Support Global Growth Strategy

Worthington Industries is a global diversified metals manufacturer headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with roughly 10,000 employees and more than 80 facilities in 11 countries. Faced with disparate financial and manufacturing systems across business lines, the company needed to standardize and automate work-order and ERP processes, deploy an integrated ERP and supply-chain solution on a managed-cloud platform for 24/7 global availability, and upgrade its ERP to reduce customizations and improve performance.

Worthington implemented Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Managed Cloud Services and upgraded to Release 12, running Advanced Supply Chain Planning on Exadata and E-Business Suite/BI on Exalogic. The changes boosted system scalability for growth and acquisitions, raised availability to 99.8%, enabled forecasts to be generated three times faster with a potential ~50% improvement in accuracy, and accelerated data warehouse loads fourfold while reducing customization costs.
