A Oracle Case Study
Australia’s Woolcock Institute of Medical Research, part of the University of Sydney and a leader in breathing and sleep research, set out to better understand insomnia—a common but poorly understood disorder that has resisted tailored treatments. The Institute needed to integrate and analyze vast, heterogeneous patient data (including brain-signal measurements) to uncover the subtle patterns and anomalies behind different insomnia presentations.
Woolcock deployed Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with Oracle Analytics to ingest, process, and run machine learning on billions of data points. The self-managing, self-patching system lets researchers visualize data, rapidly explore models, and get answers that once took weeks or months in near real time—helping the team identify anomalous sleep patterns and accelerate development of more targeted diagnoses and treatments.
