Western Digital turns to Oracle Analytics for a unified reporting view

Western Digital, a global data-storage company that grew through acquisitions of Hitachi GST and SanDisk, faced fragmented legacy systems and more than 2,000 applications that left executives and stakeholders without timely insights. Daily workflows were slowed by a data warehouse that took over eight hours to refresh and often left analytics 24–48 hours old, so the company needed a cloud-based, fast-to-deploy solution with near real-time reporting and modern analytics capabilities.

Western Digital implemented an “always-on” Oracle stack—Oracle Analytics, Oracle Exadata/Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Cloud ERP—to consolidate data, standardize reporting, and enable self-service dashboards. The change cut analytical data refresh from a 24–36 hour lag to about 20 minutes (ERP refreshes now take seconds), eliminated redundant processes, reduced support contractors and licenses, and shifted IT focus from report creation to strategic innovation while restoring user trust in the data.
