A Oracle Case Study
Universidad de la Sabana, a Colombian university with about 10,000 undergraduates, set out to build a fully digital campus to deliver personalized enrollment and online services. The effort was hindered by 80 disparate information systems, complex integrations, multiple databases and operating systems, and a costly on‑premises data center.
The university consolidated on Oracle PeopleSoft and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (plus Oracle EPM Planning) using a pay‑for‑use cloud model, enabling elastic capacity for peak registration periods. Results include 35% lower infrastructure costs, a 42% IRR, 99.9% availability across two US cloud locations, course enrollment time reduced from ~20 minutes to under 2 minutes, and planning cycles shortened from 6–8 months to 2 months—allowing operations to continue smoothly through COVID‑19 closures.
