Case Study: United Federal Credit Union achieves uninterrupted member services and reduced costs with Oracle SD-WAN

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the United Federal Credit Union Case Study

United Federal Credit Union delivers superior member services with an Oracle (formerly Talari) SD-WAN

United Federal Credit Union (UFCU), a $1.5B credit union with 23 branches across six states and more than 120,000 members, needed to eliminate frequent branch outages and support future growth. Most branches relied on two 1.544 Mbps T1 MPLS circuits (3 Mbps combined) that created a single point of failure—outages forced tellers into downtime voucher mode, took ATMs offline, and degraded member service—and anticipated new applications would soon outstrip available bandwidth. Adding a third T1 was costly and wouldn’t remove the single point of failure, while basic router failover risked dropped voice calls and only used Internet bandwidth after a failure.

UFCU implemented Oracle SD‑WAN (formerly Talari), which provides instant failover, continuous multi‑path monitoring, and full‑time use of Internet links (including sending voice packets over all paths to prevent drops). The deployment delivered transparent failover, full‑time link utilization and reduced costs, resulting in higher member satisfaction, improved operational efficiency, and scalable bandwidth for future services.
