A Oracle Case Study
Unimed Londrina is a regional healthcare cooperative in Paraná, Brazil, serving ~186,000 patients across 29 cities with 1,000 associate physicians and an extensive network of hospitals, clinics and labs. Facing rapid growth and a 24/7 operations model, the organization needed to consolidate its IT infrastructure to eliminate performance bottlenecks, speed up billing and accounts-receivable processes, and improve CRM availability so the call center and web portal could answer patient and supplier queries more quickly.
Unimed implemented Oracle Database Appliance X3-2 with Oracle Real Application Clusters and Active Data Guard (with AZCorp support) to create a scalable, highly available environment. As a result, billing and collections dropped from 12 hours to 12 minutes, accounting-report generation became 20x faster, invoice/tax/report transmission sped up 9x, CRM access and call-center response improved, and overall data availability reached 99.9%, while meeting financial and contingency requirements.
