Thurgauer Kantonalbank Ensures Development Efficiency with Integrated Single Vendor Stack

Thurgauer Kantonalbank (TKB) is a regional Swiss cantonal bank serving 180,000 customers and a major provider for local businesses. Faced with the need to accelerate time-to-market for financial products, TKB sought a high‑availability, high‑performance development and testing platform that would let engineers quickly provision anonymized database clones, increase internal development capacity, and reduce cloning costs and operational risk.

TKB deployed an integrated single‑vendor Oracle stack—Sun Server X4-2 servers running Oracle Solaris 11, Oracle Database, Oracle ZFS Storage ZS3-2, and My Oracle Support—implemented by Oracle partner BUSINESS IT in five weeks. The solution delivered individual, secure development instances, enabled anonymized database clones in about 10 minutes using ZFS copy‑on‑write snapshots, improved testing and error detection, and allowed more work to be completed in‑house with lower cost and faster response times.
