Case Study: University of Melbourne achieves secure, modernized identity and streamlined provisioning with Oracle Identity and Access Management

A Oracle Case Study

The University of Melbourne preps for innovation with Oracle

The University of Melbourne, Australia’s leading university supporting about 54,000 students, 9,200 staff and 430,000 alumni, needed to modernize its identity and access platform to improve security, compliance and account provisioning. With limited resources and no dedicated project team, the Enterprise Platform Services operations team—supported by partner Delivery Centric—took on the upgrade while preserving custom self‑service workflows and daily operations.

They moved to Oracle Identity and Access Management 12c and Oracle Identity Governance using Oracle best practices and a phased approach that enabled remote work and comprehensive retesting of integrations (Google Suite, Oracle E‑Business Suite, Oracle Unified Directory, Active Directory and the Student Portal). The upgrade completed without disrupting users, delivered a more efficient and secure platform, created a repeatable upgrade model, and positioned the university to pursue more granular, near‑real‑time provisioning features.
