The University of Adelaide runs billions of drug screenings on OCI

The University of Adelaide’s Bruning Lab needed far more computing power to run millions of in silico molecule screenings for drug discovery than its on-premises HPC systems could provide. Working on a cloud-native virtual screening pipeline, the team looked to Oracle and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to support its high-throughput research without disrupting campus resources.

Oracle implemented OCI to deliver the CPU capacity needed for large-scale screening experiments. The result was a drastically more efficient and scalable drug discovery platform, with lower costs and the ability to run billions of screenings much faster than before, all without requiring internal sign-off or impacting colleagues’ work.
