A Oracle Case Study
CNSI is a government IT and BPO provider that builds and operates Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) for multiple states. Facing rapid growth from ACA enrollment and expansion into new states, CNSI needed to scale capacity quickly, simplify and consolidate its datacenter operations, guarantee high performance during usage spikes, and secure sensitive patient data while speeding backup and restore SLAs.
CNSI deployed Oracle SuperCluster, SPARC T5‑2 servers, Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance and Oracle Solaris to virtualize and consolidate its stack, achieving a 7:1 consolidation (85% fewer systems) and drastically simplifying management. The result was 3–4x back‑end performance improvements, backups three times faster, ad hoc queries from hours to seconds, ETL from 24 hours to under 8, database utilization cut from ~80% to <25%, and scalable support for millions of claims—enabling a cloud MMIS model that can reduce Medicaid operating costs 20–40% over five years.
