Taikang Life Insurance Processes Online Orders 4x Faster, Halves Hardware Footprint, and Enhances Competitive Edge with Consolidated IT Platform

Taikang Life Insurance, one of China’s leading life insurers with more than US$100 billion in assets under management, needed to scale and streamline its online sales channel (which handles over 70% of its online business and serves customers through a partnership with Ctrip). The company’s challenge was to ensure high performance and availability for business‑critical online sales and telesales systems, quickly process large volumes of orders and claims across multiple channels, and reduce IT ownership and operational costs.

Taikang Life deployed an Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 platform (with Oracle Solaris, Oracle Database and management tools) with help from Oracle Consulting, consolidating four legacy servers and 60 CPUs onto a single engineered system. The new platform enabled 4x faster order processing and 10x faster responses to customer inquiries, cut hardware footprint by 50% and power use by 40%, accelerated provisioning and deployment (hardware-to-database migration in four days), improved uptime and manageability, and lowered sales costs while strengthening its competitive edge.
