Swedbank Eliminates Risk of Unauthorized External Assignments with Oracle PaaS

Swedbank AB, a leading Swedish banking group serving 7.3 million retail and 650,000 corporate customers, needed to prevent conflicts of interest arising from employees’ external assignments. The bank wanted to replace a semi-manual reporting process with a modern, user-friendly system that ensures high data quality, eliminates manual errors, and prevents outside commitments from affecting employee performance.

Working with Oracle Consulting, Swedbank deployed Oracle Database Cloud Service and Oracle Java Cloud Service (Oracle PaaS) to automate the reporting process. The new solution eliminated risks from unauthorized external assignments, saved about 30 minutes per application (roughly 900 hours over six months), improved data completeness and accuracy, enforced controls on external commitments, and reduced training and IT support needs.
