Sustainable Ingredient Company Modernizes With Oracle Cloud

Darling Ingredients, the world’s largest producer of sustainable ingredients, faced aging hardware in a colocation facility and needed to modernize key Oracle-based infrastructure without increasing costs. After testing other clouds and finding reliability and performance lacking, the company evaluated options to either bring workloads in-house or move them to a public cloud and chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for predictable high-performance support of Oracle Database and E-Business Suite.

Darling migrated enterprise planning, BI, data integration and EBS workloads to OCI—consolidating 19 databases into three bare-metal Oracle Database Cloud systems and deploying over 500 compute cores, NVMe and object storage, and a 10 Gbps FastConnect link for reliable user access. The move cut maintenance and personnel overhead, delivered faster provisioning and transparent costs, and improved performance (for example, a payroll job dropped from 6.5 hours to under three), with some production systems moved into OCI within 48 hours.
