Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based maker of high-performance plastics and semiconductor materials with nearly $2 billion in consolidated revenue (FY2020), needed to unify disparate ERP systems at four Asian bases (Macao, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore). The company’s goals were to standardize finance, purchasing, inventory and other back‑office processes, consolidate data for timelier management decisions, and ensure compliance with each country’s regulations.

Sumitomo Bakelite implemented Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM—about 10 modules including financials, purchasing, inventory, order management, manufacturing, planning, and quality—with support from Oracle Consulting and Nakamoto & Associates. The cloud solution created a single, controlled data foundation, standardized processes, reduced in‑house IT overhead with automatic updates, and enabled faster, more reliable data‑driven decisions across its Asian operations.
