Subaru uses high performance computing on OCI to improve engineering simulations

Subaru, the automobile division of Subaru Corporation, needed a more cost-effective and flexible way to run increasingly demanding engineering simulations for vehicle development. Its on-premises HPC environment and hardware upgrades couldn’t keep pace with rising computer-aided engineering needs, so Subaru turned to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to support safer, quieter car designs and better simulation performance.

Oracle implemented HPC on OCI for Subaru, enabling fast scale-up, pay-per-use economics, and cloud bursting for simulation workloads. The move cut computer-aided engineering times by about 20%, reduced development and calculation costs, eliminated on-premises expansion complexity, and shortened the time from server order to development by more than 50%; Oracle also helped Subaru set up the platform in just two months.
