Stanford Children’s Health Shortens Requisition-and-Invoice Approval Cycle by 5 to 30 Days

Stanford Children’s Health, anchored by Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford and serving patients across more than 100 locations, sought to improve operational efficiency and enterprise visibility across HR, finance, and supply chain processes. The organization faced time-consuming, paper-based workflows that slowed budgeting, procurement, career planning, and compliance—hindering timely access to supplies and efficient decision-making.

Working with Oracle and implementation partner Zanett, Stanford Children’s Health deployed Oracle PeopleSoft 9.1 applications and Oracle Database in a phased rollout (HR in December 2012; financials and supply chain in July 2013). The ERP automation cut requisition and invoice-approval cycles from 15–40 days to 10 or fewer days (a 5–30 day improvement), improved supply availability and on-time vendor payments, streamlined HR self-service and license tracking for compliance, and enabled faster, more comprehensive reporting across its $1B enterprise.
