SSCL leads major cloud migration for UK government

SSCL, the UK government shared services provider, needed to move more than 220,000 users and critical back-office systems from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud to lower costs, improve security, and reduce manual work. Using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle E-Business Suite, SSCL sought a more flexible foundation for HR, payroll, procurement, finance, and reporting.

Oracle helped SSCL migrate its servers to Oracle Exadata Cloud Service and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with support from partner Cintra. The move improved database performance, reduced administrative costs, and shifted infrastructure spending from capital expense to operating expense, while also adding security-first architecture and encryption at rest. The project was completed without increased cost or overtime and enabled better access, efficiency, and future innovation opportunities.
