A Oracle Case Study
Specialized Bicycle Components, a global leader in bike manufacturing with millions of customers and partners across 40 countries, faced a sudden pandemic-driven surge in demand while contending with factory shutdowns, port closures, and a legacy on‑premises ERP architecture that limited capacity and agility. Replacing the ERP wasn’t feasible because of more than 200 integrations built around it, so the company needed a way to scale and stabilize operations quickly.
Specialized moved its Oracle E‑Business Suite and Agile PLM to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure using Oracle Exadata Cloud Service, Compute, Storage, and Networking. The migration delivered large gains in online transactional and data‑warehousing performance, on‑demand scaling and pay‑per‑use economics, higher availability with RAC, load balancing, and automated updates, and more reliable connections via public/private subnets. Replication to a secondary region with Oracle Data Guard provided true disaster recovery—enabling faster order processing, real‑time inventory and production updates, and virtually no scheduled downtime.
